Hi Paul

Thank you for reading my column. That is a good question, and I should have touched on it in my article. If you have software that only exists on a CD or DVD, you have to also get a DVD drive that connects via USB port. I’m not sure of the cost but I don’t think they are too expensive.

Pat,
I read your column with interest. I am looking at buying a mini laptop to use at work. I mainly want it for internet access because our business computer network only has intranet.
My question is : where these computers do not have a DVD drive , how does one load security software such Windows Live Care?

Thanks
Paul Cameron

Sorry for another email . but I forgot to mention about being frisked when you leave the store.I never experience anything of that nature. they do quickly glance at your cash register slip to what they see in your wagon. If they didnt do this some people would have half the store cleaned out without paying.this is quite understandable.Again have a nice day.

I read your article on Costco. I dont agree with your statement concerning having to buy supplies for three years at a time. This is far from what I experience.I dont find it any different then shopping at a super market.I enjoy shopping at Costco and find many articles I cannot buy elsewhere. You dont buy in bulk, single items mostly there can be package items on some items but not excessive. I should think that Costco customers got a kick out of your article...Have a great day.

Hey Pat
Any truth to the rumor that Costco won't allow you in their stores but Best Buy is offering NicomIT employees a 25% discount on Acer Atoms? :)

The column headline about netbooks caught my attention, then the shortsightedness about Costco was what really compelled me to write.

Ok, so you don't see the value in a Costco membership. I guess that only means you don't comparison shop or try to make your dollar go further.

Milk at the grocery stores. $7.40. Milk at Costco......$5.40
4 michelin energy LX4 tires.......$1034 at the michelin dealer.....Costco....$848
Winter rims....$74 each at Crappy tire......$55 at costco.

You tell me? Does it seem worth it to get a membership? Our family of 5 buys 3-4L jugs of milk a week, $6x52 weeks........you do the math.

If you're a technology guru, then comment on technology and leave it at that.
